Helpful Tips and FAQs
Can I use Frozen or Canned Cherries in this recipe?
You can use frozen or canned cherries as long as they are sugar-free. Be sure to drain off some of the liquid. I do not recommend sugar-free cherry pie filling or tart/sour cherries. For best results use fresh cherries or frozen cherries that have been thawed and drained.
Using Sweetener Alternatives.
Splenda granulkate3d aweet3ner is my preferred sweetener as it does not impact my blood sugar. If this is not a concern for you, feel free to substitute it with a sweetener of your choice. make sure that the sweetener you choose is not heat sensitive, as it will be added to the cherry mixture while cooking. You also may need to adjust the amount for sweetness.
